Biography of Pastor Jeff
From there he went to Valley City State Teachers College in Valley City, North Dakota where he played one year of college football and basketball. Then he attended and after two years graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, Washington with a certificate in Bible. He received his B.A. from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Ancient Greek Language.
After working for a couple of years as a Parish Worker, Youth Worker and Bible Camp Director, Larry entered Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota and received his Master of Divinity degree in 1979. He did his year of internship in Plains and Thompson Falls, Montana. He has served churches in Sandpoint/Clark Fork, Idaho(5 years) and Post Falls(18 years), Idaho before coming to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls in July of 2002.
Pastor Larry is married to Wendy and they have three grown children – Timothy who works for the State of Colorado as a forester and lives in Alamosa; Matthew who lives in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and works for an architectural firm; and Rachel who recently graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana with a degree in photography. They also have four grandchildren. Wendy is co-director and one of the preschool teachers at First Lutheran’s Preschool.
Pastor Larry's hobbies include horseback riding, fishing, hunting, hiking, golfing, and canoeing but the top of the priority list is Larry and Wendy’s four grandchildren.

Pastor Jeff was born in Boise, Idaho and is a graduate of Borah High School and Boise State University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics. He worked as a corporate customer service officer for West One Bank and U.S. Bank.
He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and confirmed at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. As a member of Shepherd of the Valley, Jeff served in various capacities ranging from church treasurer to properties to internship committee to assisting minister. The call for Jeff to pursue ordained ministry really came through the support and encouragement of the members of Shepherd of the Valley.
Jeff graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa in May 2001 and was ordained at Shepherd of the Valley in July 2001. He completed his year of internship at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion, Illinois and completed a summer of clinical pastoral education at The Village at Manor Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served as pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho from August 2001 through January 2006.
Pastor Jeff is married to Kim and they have two children, Sam and Emily. They enjoy going to the park, going out to eat, spending time with family in Boise, and just being together at home. Pastor Jeff also enjoys working in the yard, Boise State athletics, auto racing, and oldies music.
